9/9/13 Experimenting with Pseudo-3D Environments on Atari 2600
I am currently working on a small Wolfenstein 3D-themed FPS demo for the 2600. This is my first attempt at pseudo-3D gameplay on the 2600, and it's actually coming along better than I would have expected.
9/6/13 Mortal Kombat: Netherrealm Journey Released!
Just finished work on my latest game, Mortal Kombat: Netherrealm Journey, and it's my largest to date! This game is a platformer somewhat akin to Pitfall, and it's set in the Mortal Kombat universe. You play as Scorpion, who has been defeated in mortal kombat and banished to the Netherrealm. Your goal is to traverse its treacherous depths and find the portal that leads back to Earthrealm.
The controls are as follows:
Left - Move Left
Right - Move Right
Up - Jump
Down - Release from Rope (only used when holding onto rope)
Fire - Advance past title screen

And, because no Mortal Kombat game would be complete without cheat kodes:
Play as Sub-Zero - At the title screen press: Up, Down, Left, Right, Fire
Play as Reptile - At the title screen press: Up, Down, Left, Right, Left, Fire
Play as Ermac - At the title screen press: Up, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, Fire

8/29/13 Classic SMG Games Watchtower & Carnival: Shooting Gallery Uploaded!
I've just added two of the very first Atari 2600 games I developed back in '09 to the downloads section; Watchtower and Carnival: Shooting Gallery. Watchtower was the first game I ever programmed using Batari Basic, and C:SG was an expirement in developing a 2K game, that eventually evolved into the basis for the shooting mode in Transformers: Search for Energon. I think there were some cool concepts in these two games, even if the execution was less than perfect.
8/29/13 Night of the Creeps Released!
It's been a very long time since I updated this site. The last Atari game I made was a game for Thotcon, a hacking conference. Unfortunately, my previous laptop died, and I lost the original files from that game, as well as all progress on WWF: Titans of the Ring. Luckily, I was able to score one of the cartridges of my game that was given away at Thotcon, so I do still have the game to play if I ever get around to setting up my 2600 or 7800 again. I've decided to start programming again, and in keeping with tradition, this one's based on another 80's property; Night of the Creeps! The game is set after the events of the film's alternate ending, and the gameplay consists of switching between your shotgun and flamethrower to dispatch zombies and slugs. The game is available now in the downloads section as either a standard .BIN file, or in a .ZIP package, which includes both a manual and a desktop icon. Check out the video below to see it in action!
8/31/11 Work Started on WWF: Titans of the Ring!
It's been a while, but I'm back with another update. I've begun work on a brand new 2-player wrestling game starring Hulk Hogan and "Rowdy" Roddy Piper! Check out the Pictures section for a very early look at the action!
4/25/11 Transformers: Search for Energon Released!
Just finished work on Transformers: Search for Energon! It is now available for download in the Downloads section. Also, be sure to take a look at the manual, located in the Manuals section, before playing. Have fun!
4/25/11 Transformers: Search for Energon - Nearing Release
I've been working hard on Transformers: Search for Energon for the past several days, and it is now nearing completion. Just have to add a few more text screens and sound effects, and it will be complete. Only problem I'm having is that I'm running out of memory (it's hard fitting Decepticon and Autobot campaigns, 3 game modes and several text screens into one 4k Atari 2600 game), but I think I'll be able to make it work if I eliminate the "Roll Out" and "For Battle" text screens that come after the "Transform" text screen, when switching to Driving or Shooting modes, respectively. Check out the Pictures section for some screenshots of the game, and be sure to keep checking back regularly; the full, playable game will soon be available for download. In the mean time, why not get ready for the impending release, and download the best Atari 2600 emulator out there, Stella?
